I started the MusicMojo Podcast to help adults return to musical hobbies. Having spoken to many parents and carers throughout my career as a school teacher, it was clear to me that many adults regret giving up a childhood musical hobby and would like to restart, but are often unsure as to what to do or how to fit it into their busy lives.
Problem: Adults would like to return to music but are short of time and experience.
Solution: Create a podcast guiding adults through ideas as to how music can be incorporated into their busy lives.
1: Identify the goal:
Enable adults to take up or restart a musical hobby.
LO 1: Know what opportunities are available.
LO2: Understand how to fit music into just 10 minutes a day.
LO3: Reflect on how good a hobby can be for your mental and physical health.
With over 35 years of music experience and as a busy parent, I consider myself an SME in this topic. I was confident that I had many ideas I could help people with.
2: Presentation:
Short and easy to listen to podcast episodes that cater for busy adult lives.
3: Graphic Design:
Logo and other images created in Canva.
Simple but bright and uplifting colours as hobbies are supposed to be fun.
Musical introduction and interludes composed and recorded by myself using Garageband editing software, along with an M-Audio midi keyboard and Blue Yeti microphone.
I asked a selection of family and friends to review the podcast and they enjoyed:
short and easily digestible episodes
'fun vibe' from the graphics and music
valuable advice for busy adults.
